As well as the original Slipstream track, the new single contains four other remixes that will do everything but disappoint! Hear that fantastic riff at the start of track 1? “Slipstream” This song starts off with a really catchy piano chord with accompanied drums. The vocals and lyrics come in which are really fitting in with the catchiness. This song is really great and stays in your head long after it’s gone. “Slipstream (Muz’s Sensory Mix)” starts off with nice synthesised melodic keys. The vocals and lyrics get a new dimension in this version remixed by: “Muz’s Sensory Mix” Towards the end the song gets a drum & bass feel. At the same time changes happen to more lounge feel. Lots of effects happen and changes accrue at the right time to make you dance. “Slipstream (Radio Edit)” This is the same song that makes you dance in the first place. This song can now be heard on the radio. “Slipstream (Instrumental)” this is the same song that makes you want to dance. This is the core of the song at its bare bones, because the song is really catchy and there is no better way to hear it as being instrumental. “Slipstream (A Cappella)” This is the same song as the single. This is the bare bones of the vocals and lyrics. Echoed the way it is it sounds really great together.

Sensorites – ‘Slipstream’

‘Slipstream’ is the brand new single from Sensorites, and we’d like to start off by mentioning that it’s pretty bloody good to say the very least. Boasting enchanting melodies, a beautiful piano introduction and a catchy and up-beat backing, ‘Slipstream’ certainly woke us up on it’s first play at precisely 9am in the morning.

So, who are Sensorites? Well, they are a duo, more commonly known as brothers Nathan and Gareth Kirkham. Originally residing from Stoke-on-Trent, as a pair they’re now more regularly seen on the Mersey scene where they spend most of their time perfecting their art at ‘The Batcave’ – what a name for a studio eh?

They’re the kind of group that you develop an instant liking and fondness for, and that we’ve certainly done. Both clearly have a sentimental attachment to their music, and as well as being highly enjoyable to listen to, it also tells for a good few tales should you care to fathom it out.

The new single, ‘Slipstream’ opens with an urgent piano introduction, setting the mood for the rest of the track to follow to. Sweeping you off your feet with an enchanting melody that lures you into the pathway it follows, you’ll be wowed by it’s upbeat and catchy nature, and if you’re not tapping your feet along by the end of it, you may need to see someone about your inability to comprehend such joyous magic.

They’re currently working on a debut full length, which promises to live up to the classic debuts released by previous bands of brothers including Oasis, Kings of Leon and others taken from that long, successful list. They may not be entirely ‘local’ to the Mersey scene, but the post-Beatles, Coral esque sound and style bleeds in perfectly, really capturing what this brand new, exciting pair are about.
Why not give it a listen? It will be the best decision you make all day:

SENSORITES- Spacemen

‘Spacemen’ is a nice Doctor Who reference from two dashing Scouse brothers who pride themselves on a typically British approach to what is essentially really good songwriting. Whilst the Sensorites of sci-fi lore were intent on using their telepathic alien powers against humans, here is a band that uses harmonious indie/pop with a feel-good summery vibe to do their bidding. Sounds like a polished turd? Not likely. With a tell-tale use of rhythm that screams north of the border, Sensorites mix a laidback vibe synonymous with The Bees (who aren’t Northern but always sound a bit Northern to me) with the strong melodies of the beautiful Serge, Ashcroft and the like. What’s more, despite the fact that the B-sides could be seen as a cop-out in being different versions of the same track, each only serves to showcase the strong musicianship throughout. A moody, fairly woeful remix by ‘Two ragged soldiers’ acts in stark contrast to the single, replacing cute acoustic guitars with sombre, dramatic instrumentation in what could be a completely different song altogether. And the A Capella version on the end? Now they’re just showing off. And well they might. This is a nice introduction to what should be a mainstream talent.

This review is also a year or so in the making. But Sensorites are still writing and gigging. Check them out, innit.
