The Sensorites originated as a duo with brothers Nathan and Gareth Kirkham, before being joined by drummer Ash Michael and guitarist Kurt Riley, who they met whilst touring as a duo. Yet another band hailing from Liverpool - what do they put into the water of Merseyside? Whatever it is - we can only thank them for it and for bringing us yet another talented band from the area.
Their sound instantly feels decidedly warm, welcoming and instantly familiar, perhaps because their obvious influences from a variety of bands such as The Zutons and their fellow Liverpudlians The Beatles and Cast is evident. Their sound is very original and very British. It has that Mersey feel, melodic and confident with just a hint of humour to it.
Fool is a pleasant song with uncomplicated lyrics: “I’d be a fool to let you go/ I’m a fool, don’t you know?” The jaunty vocals are backed by acoustic guitar and a rhythmic percussion sound that runs right through the track. A short guitar solo creeps between the verses to add a punch too.
The song is catchy and instantly likeable and a great offering from the band. It is a short and snappy 2 minutes and 28 seconds long - and leaves you wishing that the song lasted a little longer than it does - perfect.
